EECU Internet Privacy

EECU is committed to protecting the privacy of members and non-members who visit eecu.org. We have adopted the following statement regarding how EECU handles information we may learn about you during your visit to our site or our online services.

Website Access

EECU does not retain your address or domain when you access eecu.org. We do maintain a counter for visits to our site, as well as analysis providing aggregate statistics about visitors’ actions on the site, but do not retain the IP addresses of visitors.

Service Providers

EECU utilizes service providers for online content features and services. If you sign up to utilize these services, or access these sites through eecu.org, your domain or address may be collected and stored by those service providers. These service providers may maintain privacy statements regarding how they collect, store and use information they learn about you from your visits to their site. EECU recommends reading those privacy statements.

Collection and Use of Member Information

We may automatically place and collect information from “cookies,” which are electronic files that capture information about your visit. Examples are the date and time of your visit, the Internet provider address your computer was assigned and the pages you accessed on eecu.org. The information we may collect will remain strictly confidential, as we do not disclose cookie information to non-affiliated third parties nor to affiliates, with the exception of service providers that EECU commissions to specifically assist with the direct communication between you and EECU. Examples of how member information may be used include, but are not limited to:

  • To improve our website

  • To notify you about updates or enhancements to our website

  • To contact you for special promotions through eecu.org or through other websites

While most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, users are capable of preventing their Web browser from using the cookies stored in their personal computer’s hard drive, or even accepting cookies. Since cookies are required to maintain a secure Internet connection between a computer and our website, please be aware that if you disable cookies, you may encounter difficulty using certain features of EECU’s website. Also, cookies are a necessary element in enabling your Web browser to provide you with a convenient browsing experience and relevant offers. While these are optional, rejecting cookies may result in less convenient browsing and slower website performance.

In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), EECU’s website is not directed to children under the age of 13, and EECU does not knowingly collect or maintain personal information online.

Online Banking Services

EECU offers online account access to members who have enrolled in online banking. To utilize this system, a member must sign in using an authorized user ID and password. This system is secure. Members may obtain account information and transact financial business, as limited/allowed by the system. EECU collects and stores visit and transaction information regarding visits and transactions to this system. Transactions performed while on this system are recorded within the account database.

Email

Personal information forwarded by email from members and others may be used by EECU staff to answer questions, to investigate complaints or suggestions, or to improve services provided. As email may not be secure, it is the policy of EECU to encourage members to be cautious and aware regarding the transmission of sensitive account information to the credit union via email. It is the policy of EECU to not complete financial transaction requests or address changes received via standard email, nor to provide private member account information via email.
